Ricky L. Norman, a cherished member of the Springfield community, passed away on June 22, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on July 9, 1959, in Monroe, LA, Ricky was known for his dedication, kindness, and unwavering support for his family and friends.

Ricky’s early years were marked by his service in the United States Army from 1979 to 1981, where he served his country with honor and integrity. After his military service, he found his calling closer to home, dedicating 27 years of his life as a Custodian for Springfield School District 186. His commitment to his work and the community left a lasting impact on those around him.

On July 21, 2000, Ricky married the love of his life, Cindi Norman, in Springfield, IL. Their union was a testament to love and companionship, serving as a pillar of strength and support for their family. Ricky’s strong Christian faith guided his actions and decisions throughout his life, providing comfort and direction.

Ricky is survived by his loving wife, Cindi Norman, and his father, Willie Thomas. He leaves behind a large and loving family, including brothers Harold Norman, Ronnie Bell, Stacy Thomas, Willie Chandler, and Aunrey Blaylock, as well as sisters Madeline Bennett, Ramona Holyfield, Tasha Chandler, and Nakia Chandler. His legacy also extends to his children: Angela Baker, Janna Aponglue (Joe), Emmily Dye (Erik), Michael Roseberry, Chris Roseberry (Mindy), Deejah Greenfield (Michael) , Heather Durheim, Nicholas Norman, Rontae Norman, Jillian Norman, and Jayvon Norman. As well as many nieces, nephews, and 27 grandchildren. Ricky was predeceased by his mother, Alice Crump (Norman).

Ricky’s life was a testament to the values of hard work, dedication, and love for family. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. 

Funeral service will be held at Faith Outreach Christian Center 6800 Bahr Road Sherman, IL on July 19th at 10:00 AM. The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the support and condolences received during this difficult time.
