Robert “Ted” Bodamer (59) of Decatur, IL passed away peacefully on June 24 th , 2023, in his home, after courageously battling cancer for 7 years. Born October 9 th , 1963, in Phoenix, AZ to Lewis B. Bodamer and Helena V. Bodamer (Pearson). Raised by his father and stepmother, Fran Raver in Ohio. He was the youngest of 6 children.
Ted met the love of his life, Donna Bodamer (VanScyoc), in the fall of 1992 and they were married January 11 th , 1996, in Paducah, KY.
Ted joined the United States Marine Corps in 1981 where he was awarded numerous medals, ribbons, and certificates. While serving in the USMC, Ted traveled the world and was honorably discharged in 1988. He continued to serve his country in the United States Army Reserves until 1995. He then attended MTI and Institute for Construction Education.
Ted was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, hiking, and target shooting. He was also an avid billiards player and played with several APA teams. Ted owned and operated Burg’s Shoe Repair alongside his wife for many years. He then began his career
at ADM as a Millwright in 2001. Ted enjoyed working and made numerous friends over the 17 years he was at ADM.
Ted is survived by his wife, Donna Bodamer (VanScyoc) of Decatur, IL; daughter, Elana (Chris) Miller of Blue Mound, IL; son, Aaron (Anna) Greenberg of San Diego, CA; 8 grandchildren – Landon, Greenley, Lucas, Tristan, Max, Liv, Jaxon, and Avalynn; stepmother, Fran Raver of Dale City, VA; sister, Katrina (Tye) McMannis of Millersport, OH; sister, Elizabeth Bailey of Herrik, IL; Barbara (Kenney) Reed of Decatur, IL; brother, Lewis (Jodi) Bodamer of Princeton, IL; sister, Candace Russell of Dale City, VA; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Ted is preceded in death by his mother, Helena Bodamer, his grandmother, Maxine Bodamer, brother- in-law, Charles Bailey, and father, Lewis Bodamer.
A memorial service will be held at First Christian Church of Blue Mound, 100 S Lewis St, Blue Mound, IL, on July 29 th , 2023, at 11:00 am with full military honors.
