Robert Van Morgan, 96 of Monticello, IL. passed away on Saturday February 4, after a brief illness at Kirby Hospital in Monticello. He was surrounded by his family.

Bob was born in Bement, IL. on October 31, 1926. He was the son of Sidney and Lucille Morgan. He attended Bement schools and entered the US Navy in October of 1944 and was discharged June 28,1946. He was a member of American Legion Post 620 Albert Parker Post for 77 years and served on it’s honor guard.

He married Roseann Ford on February 7, 1848. Sadly, he missed his 75Th wedding anniversary by three days.

Along with his wife, Bob is survived by his sister Mary Waldmier, son Michael (Pat) Morgan, daughters Mid (Richard) Riggs, Lynne (Rick) Stoerger and Patricia Wright. He was blessed with 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

Bob was a lifelong farmer who remained actively involved until the day he died. He loved horses and was a cowboy and roper to the very end.
