Robert (Woody) Charles Woodard, 77 of Moweaqua, passed away April 11,2025 at Decatur Memorial Hospital surrounded by loved ones.

Bob was born on February 25, 1948 in Bedford Tx. to James and Hilda (Nehils) Woodard.

He married Verna Kay Kemper on January 20, 1968. She preceded him in death on June 26, 1989. He then married Mary Behne on April 28, 1990 and they were later legally separated.

Bob graduated from Moweaqua High School in 1966, he then served in the U.S. Army from March 1967 to March 1970. He was a Vietnam War Veteran. He then went to work for Caterpillar in Decatur, IL for 30 years, retiring in 1996. He then moved to New York and went to work for Monarch Machine Tool in Cortland, NY for 15 years.

While working for Monarch he traveled all over the U.S., Mexico and China. He enjoyed traveling and seeing almost every state.

He also enjoyed deer hunting with his buddies down in Southern IL. for over 40years. He loved watching Nascar, St. Louis Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys and Illini Basketball and Football. He also enjoyed going to Rocco’s to play gaming machines and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He was a former member of the Stonington American Legion Post #257, he was a life-time member of the Moweaqua VFW #2705, and Moweaqua American Legion Post #370.

He is survived by his Daughters- Shiela (Brent) Ayres, Moweaqua IL. Tara Rose, Normal IL. Brothers – Don (Sue) Woodard, Mission TX. , John (Pam) Woodard, Colorado Springs, CO.  Sister – Patricia (Gene) Scribner, Decatur, IL.

Grandchildren- Alex (Jessica) Durbin, Charles Woodard, Ellen (Jake) Jenner, Mackenzie Bingaman, Christa Bingaman, Gabrielle (Conner) Anderson.

Great Grandchildren- Kaylee, Brandon, Gracelynn, James, Emma, Lucas, Allannah, Liam and Brooks, several nieces and nephews and his best friend  for over 70 years Ray(Betty) Pekovitch.

Preceded in death by, Parents-James and Hilda Woodard, Wife Verna Kay Kemper, Daughter- Judith Kay Van Dyke , Sisters- Jeanette Hickman and Linda Morrell, Brother- Jimmy.

Services will be Saturday April 19, 2025 at Mt. Pleasant Church of God, Assumption Il.  Viewing is from 12pm-2pm. He will be cremated after.
