Roger D. Ethridge, 60 of Stonington, IL passed away on Saturday October 5th, 2024, at his home, following a courageous battle of cancer. He was born May 28,1964, Rochelle, IL, the son of Robert Wayne Ethridge and Mary (Stocking) Mars.
He was a 1983 graduate of Shelbyville High School and served in the United States Army. Roger married the Love of his Life, June of 2003. Surviving Roger are his wife, Stacey of Stonington; sons, Blake of Stonington & Brock of Decatur, granddaughter, Kenslee, sisters; Susan (Joe) Tomko Springfield, IL; Nancy Tappendorf of Shelbyville, IL; Emily Ethridge, Illiopolis, IL: Aunt, Dorothy Lockard, Creston, IL; Uncle, Lee Stocking, Mendota, IL; several nieces, nephews, cousins, mother in law; Sharon Swisher, Stonington, IL sister n law; Stephanie Wemple and brother n law Jim O’Rourke of Pana, Il, and his best Aussie companion, Bella. He was proceeded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and father-in-law John Swisher.
Roger enjoyed camping, golfing, fishing, hunting, playing pool and most of all, grilling to feed the neighborhood. He was a proud member of the Stonington American Legion Post 257. He was a Huge Chicago Cub and Illini fan. Roger retired after 20 years with NBC Comcast/Xfinity as a business tech, in 2022. He then enjoyed working a few side jobs, mowing, Marron Landscaping, Rail Serve and CTI.
He was the type of man that could make friends with any one he encountered. He always willing to help out with the neighbors or anyone in the community.
Memorial contributions may be made to Stonington American Legion Post 257 and THS Boys Bowling Foundation.
A ceremony to Honor his life and Military service, will be held October 19th, 2024 at 4:00pm, at Stonington American Legion Post 257. A dinner and Roger’s Celebration of Life to follow ceremony. Private burial, at Camp Butler National Cemetery will be at a later date.
