On August 31, 2023, Ronald James Mohn, 74, tragically passed away from a motorcycle accident near Cisco, IL, his home, while doing one of the things he loved most – riding free.

He was born August 30, 1949, to Arthur James Mohn and Lonell (Fulkerson) Mohn. His father preceded him in death, as well as his younger brother, Richard Lee Mohn. Ron was a proud United States Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran, and his rank was a Gunnery Sargeant. Ron had ridden his horse up to enlist in the military when he was only 17 years old. He would then go on to be “tunnel rat” in the Vietnam War, which was a position known to employ only the bravest of the brave.

Ron retired from Firestone here in Decatur. He, of course, enjoyed riding his motorcycle. But more than anything, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

He is survived by his children, Ronald Corey Mohn, Chelsea Eraschi Mohn, and Joshua Mohn; grandchildren, Owen Mohn, Coraline Mohn, and Andrew Mohn; mother, Lonell Fulkerson Mohn; siblings, Donald Edward Mohn, Sandra Dee Mohn Farris, and Susan Denise Mohn Freeman; and best friend (brother) Stanley Childress; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Per Ron’s wishes, viewing and a celebration of his life were held privately immediately following his passing.

Donations are welcome and Ron would prefer they be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

His family would love to hear how much he was loved. If you’d like to send them well wishes, please comment on the Guestbook here or send a card to Central Cremation Center in Forsyth, IL, where arrangements are being handled.
