Sherry Lynn Bucshon, 83 years old from Springfield, IL., passed away on April 19,2026, surrounded by family. Sherry was born in Taylorville, IL. on July 19,1942, the daughter of the late Frank and Gladys Bucshon. Sherry attended South Fork High School, Class of 1961. She retired from the State of Illinois Board of Education, Special Education Department after over 35 years of service, where she had many close friends and she volunteered with the Special Olympics.

Sherry had many hobbies which included gardening, crocheting, canning, genealogy and traveling every chance she got. Sherry was very young at heart, she seemed to have a fountain of youth and never stopped chasing life.

Sherry leaves behind her son Mark Bucshon (Ashley Thorton) of Petersburg, IL. and her beloved cats Lilly and Milo, along with many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, who were a huge part of her life. She even shared a birthdate with a great niece, and that was very special to her.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, brother Larry “Tootsie” Buchson, Gerald and Ronald Bucshon.

Sherry will be buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL. A celebration of life will be held in her honor in the future.
