Things in the movie business will be alot, well what can one say.. I knew Skip-a-ru many years, when he was a young-un and through the the band-music field.. Skip was always a joy to see and talk wiith even to the last day that we rattled (talked) with him. My deepest sympathy Sammy Baum

Skip was my cousin. Our fathers were brothers. As a child he seemed so grown up and always provided a good scare to younger cousins as he acted out his horror movie favorites or told ghost stories! What kid wouldn't be drawn to him. As a young teen he was like a rockstar- handsome and a great guitar player. It was only when I became older and we reconnected on social media that I could see what a quality person he turned out to be. His father died far too young and Skip dedicated himself to standing in his shoes to love and support his younger sisters and their families, nieces and others. He was a loving and thoughtful person and always made sure I knew although I was grown. and far away that Decatur was my home and I could always count on his support. He represents the last "Head Honco" of the Huston clan and truly just a generous and good person.. He did so many amazing things but in the end, it's about love and kindness, loyalty and helping others..

So many things I could say about Skip....but I will always remember him as such a positive inspiration to so many in and around the Decatur, Il. area. Like many others, I had years' worth of in-depth conversations with him about movies, music, history, philosophy, you name it; Skip could articulate on it. Skip, we'll always love and miss you. Until we meet again, friend 😊

Skip was my neighbor on Delmar when I was a kid. I remember him and his Mother Sally. Later in life when I was a teenager, I ran into Skip again. Skip worked at The Crystal Ship with his friend and owner Gary Allen. Of course being teenagers we would go there a lot and buy black lights, posters and above all, a hundred different kinds of rolling papers. Like Skip, I also moved out to California and then back to Decatur. I have gone to the Avon countless times since my return. I always like talking to Skip about movies and the good ol days here in Decatur. Skip was a BIG part of this city and I will miss him and all he did for us movie buffs.

Skip was a true character. He loved his family, he loved Decatur, he loved movies, and he loved the Avon. He kept that place afloat, Skip against all odds, and had every reason to be proud of the Avon – and he was. I will always be extremely lucky to have known Skip for the decades that I have. I loved him like a brother, and he will always be someone who probably affected my life more than any other. I will miss him deeply and I know the rest of my life will be a little less exciting without him in it.
