Sue Hughes, a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished daughter, passed away on February 14, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on May 8, 1962, in Greeley, Colorado, Sue lived a life defined by kindness, dedication, and an unwavering love for her family.

Sue honorably served her country as a Chaplain’s Assistant in the United States Air Force, where she was stationed stateside and abroad in Greece. It was during her service that she met the love of her life, Richard Hughes. Together, they built a beautiful life, celebrating 40 years of marriage and raising two children, Nicholas and Kaitlyn.

Throughout her career, Sue worked for the State of Illinois in various roles, always ensuring she provided for her family. She retired in 2024, looking forward to the simple joys she cherished most—spending time outdoors on warm summer days, reading, and sharing moments with her loved ones. She found happiness in country drives with Richard and was known for keeping family holiday traditions alive.

Above all, she was a woman of deep kindness and devotion, always putting the well-being of her family first.

Sue is survived by her husband, Richard Hughes; her children, Nicholas Hughes and Kaitlyn Hughes; her mother, Ann Boyd; her brothers, Jay (Fonda) Ferrari, David Ferrari, and Richard (Brenda) Ferrari; her sisters, Judy Ellifritz, Lisa Hillewaert, and Connie Wood; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Sue’s love, warmth, and gentle spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
