Swyomicia Kallaway, formerly known as Clemie Powell, 59, of Decatur, Illinois, was called to be with the Lord on December 15, 2025, in her daughter’s home.

Swyomicia was born October 22, 1966, surrounded with love by her parents Johnnie and Deborah (Dennis) Powell in Decatur.

Everyone knew her as “Clemie.” She loved watching scary movies, baking cinnamon rolls and shopping. Clemie loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart, always offering a helping hand if she could. She was a graduate of the Illinois School for the Deaf.

Swyomicia leaves to cherish her memories: her loving children Ebony (Powell) Dhermy and Jamel Powell, her grandchildren Camarion Hill, Derrion Hill, Elijah Dhermy, Josiah Williams, Jaden Powell, Jaela Chanel Stanley and Laela Powell, one great-granddaughter Ka’Zarya Powell, sister Leslie Powell, brother Kenneth Powell and best friends Angela Ballard and Teresa Jackson. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Johnnie and Deborah Powell, sisters Mary (Powell) Fakes, Dorothy (Powell) Leonard and Laura Powell.

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 2-5pm at Lucy Loft, 1165 University Avenue in Decatur.
