Vanessa Ann Lagesse, 49, gained her wings at 9:25am on January 10, 2023 at her home in Mattoon, IL.

Vanessa was born to Vincent Andrew Lagesse and Janet Lee Alexander on December 6, 1973. She went to school at Normal Community, and worked as a waitress and cashier in many Bloomington and surrounding community businesses.

Vanessa is survived by her Sister, Jenny (Chuck) Burrell, Mattoon, Il; Brother Daniel Cox, Bloomington, IL; Son, Richard (Devin) Bales, Moberly, MO; Daughter, Kaylee Bilbry (Robert Fink), Pekin, IL; God-sons, Chaz (Lexi) Burrell, Mattoon, IL; Andrew Burrell, Mattoon, IL; Grandchildren, Abigail, Isabelle, and Mason Bales, Moberly, MO; Aunt Susan Alexander, Mattoon, IL; Honerary parents, Pam Hernandez, Bloomington, IL; Adam Hernandez, Bloomington, IL; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Vanessa was proceeded in death by her parents, grandparents, Uncle Thomas Alexander, and Aunt Alice Gilliam.

Celebration of life will be January 28, 2023 at The Salvation Army, 611 W. Washington St, Bloomington, IL from 1-3pm.

Vanessa had a contagious smile and beautiful blue eyes. Her motto was “to leave people better than they were” and she did this with her warm hugs, compassionate heart, and sometimes a little humor. She loved spending time with friends and family and will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
