Vicki Sue Patrick

Vicki Sue Patrick, 77, of Auburn, Illinois passed away on July 30, 2026 at Regency Care in Springfield, Illinois. Mom was born on August 7, 1948 to George Kazenske and Louise Hubert in Springfield, Illinois. She married Jerry W. Harris in 1969. They moved to Oceanside, California for 3 years before moving back to Auburn, Illinois. She lived in Pawnee, Illinois until 2008 when she moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia for 16 years. She then moved back to Springfield, Illinois. She always called Virginia Beach her home.

She was employed by the State of Illinois as the Executive Secretary for the Director of DHS before retiring in 1999. She also worked as a bartender for several taverns in Illinois.

Mom loved to garden and go fishing. She would always want to hook the biggest fish. She was the first to join in the activities at Regency Care and was known for her competitiveness. She loved her Green Bay Packers in the NFL and Jimmy Johnson in Nascar. She loved reading the bible and going to church. She was very proud when she was going to college and made the Deans list. She loved to bake and cook for family events.

Mom loved being in Virginia when she came out to live. She fell in love with the beach all over again and her secret garden. Most of all she loved her family. Small but mighty. And we loved her back.

Mom is survived by her daughter, Roberta (Harold) Cain of Lancaster, Virginia. Son, Mike Harris of Springfield, Illinois. And youngest daughter Brenda Harris of Springfield, Illinois. 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. And many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother George and Louise Kazenske and 1 son, Tony Harris.
