Warren Richard (Rick) Adams Jr.

Warren Richard (Rick) Adams Jr. passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, with his loving wife Ann by his side, after bravely battling Parkinson’s for over 20 years. Rick was born on November 25, 1944 and grew up in Urbana, Illinois. He studied at the University of Illinois and SIU Carbondale before marrying Ann in 1967 and entering the military. Rick served in the US Air Force, and he and Ann were stationed in Turkey during the Vietnam War. After returning to the US, Rick earned a Master’s in Education from U of I and spent 40 years teaching and coaching in Decatur, Illinois, where he and Ann raised their two sons.

Rick is survived by his wife, Ann Hennessy Adams, and sons Aaron (Paula) Blaker Adams and Nathan (Marion) Richard Adams. He was a loving Grandpa Rick to Eion, Maeve, Olivia, Fiona, Nuala, Lucian and Simone.

Rick was a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. As a loyal Fighting Illini fan, he never missed a football or basketball game. He was a passionate coach who loved helping to develop the community’s youth. Rick was a humble, strong, and loving husband, father, grandfather, teacher, coach, and friend who will be dearly missed.

In lieu of funeral services, a Celebration of Life will be held later this summer.
