Warren John “Jack” Smith of Macon,IL.

Jack passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with family by his side.

Jack was 87 years old. He was born November 30,1938, in Chicago, IL. Jack spent his early years in Villa Park and Wilmette. He graduated from New Trier High School.

Jack met the love of his life Carol Anne Swanson while attending Bradley University earning his degree in Construction Engineering. Jack and Carol married April 22nd,1961, they would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this month.

Jack’s career led him to the Illinois Department of Transportation, Burdick Aeration and the nuclear energy industry traveling across the country.

Jack is survived by his wife, Carol, sons Randy (Mary Anne) of Oak Park, IL., Greg (Angie) of Macon, IL., Jeremy of Kalamazoo, MI., and Joshua of St. Louis, MO., brother Curt of Flower Mound, TX. and sister Karen of Boise, ID. Jack is also survived by his granddaughters Megan Smith of St. Louis, MO., Kaylee Booker-Smith (JD Booker-Smith) of Decatur, IL., Georgia and Gabriella Smith of Oak Park, IL. He is further survived by his great grandchildren Lilianna, Wesley, Leo and Henry

Jack was a member of Macon UMC and a member of his beloved Breakfast Sertoma Club. Jack deeply loved his family and friends.

He loved sharing stories with anyone who listened to him. He was a historical whiz especially with vehicles.

We would like to thank TSNRC and Hospice Care for their kindness and care for Jack in his final days.

A service will be held at Macon UMC on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 4:00. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service at Macon UMC Macon, IL.
