Craig’s obituary used the word “joyous”, and I cannot think of a better word to describe him, his smile and his style. I always enjoyed talking to Craig about rare and in-depth topics and felt him to be a beautiful soul. I smile fondly thinking of him. I know Craig through the O’Bryans and David Brostek.

I know Craig originally as a friend of a friend — he became a very good friend of mine. Not that we saw each other often but I (and I certainly believe he, regarded me as a friend as well). I always called him CAL instead of Craig as that was his initials. I saw him at least twice a year when he came to visit back in Michigan. I TRULY ENJOYED each and every time I had the opportunity to visit with him. He was a very kind, intelligent and interesting guy. I will miss him - my condolences to his family and his other friends!!!!!

I spent a lot of time with Craig (Berke) in Colorado in the 80's. He was great fun; smart, funny, eccentric and a good friend.and drinking buddy. He also taught me everything I needed to know about sports. I last saw him when he visited us in Wisconsin about a decade ago, and he had changed very little. We will miss him greatly and affectionately.

I am an old college friend of Craig's, and I and all his buddies from that time are so sorry to hear of his passing. Always a close friend, Craig and I also shared a house during our years of shoestring budgets and need to be close to campus. He was so much fun, and his friends always meant the world to him. His sense of humor was so quirky, and that was a common thread among our group of brilliant friends. There are too many memories to share here, but I want to mention Craig's running and bicycling during those years. He never had a car and bicycled everywhere. He also ran a lot, and every year on his birthday, he would run as many miles as he was years old that year. That sometimes required a support team as his years increased. Craig visited me a few times when I was still living in Colorado, and we would just fall into our old friendship, laughing, hiking, and biking. I loved him so much.

Craig was one of the first people I met when working at Richland. He always had something interesting to talk about and loved talking about his bike trips. His passion for helping students be successful in his Chemistry classes was contagious. Overall, Craig was a great person to know.

I had the pleasure of working at Richland with Craig. He was always delightful to be around. Had a smile on his face and his humor was great. He would share so many pleasant stories with me. I would fix his computer often and he was always so grateful. He will be greatly missed.

Craig will be missed. He was one of my first professors at Richland when I went back to school later in life. I have such great memories of sitting around after class listening to him tell stories about his life. He was such a wonderful person.

I taught with Craig for a few years many years ago, and also rode bicycles together a few times. He always had a smile and a minute to talk science in the hallways. He was a wonderful guy and will be missed by many. I know for a fact his teaching touched the lives of thousands.
